Wrentham Public Schools District: How many students failed the English test in 2021-22 school year?

Of the 484 students who took part in the MCAS, 44% did not meet the testing standard in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

These students did not meet the required standards of the English Language Arts portion of the MCAS, compared to the 56% who did.

The number of Wrentham Public Schools District students who failed their English Language Arts assessments rose by 7.5% from the previous school year.

Wrentham Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Norfolk County and has a main office in Wrentham.

In the 2021-22 school year, 400,101 students took the English Language Arts test in Massachusetts with 44% students failing, 10.1% more than the year before.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's 2022 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), the average scale score for grade 10 English Language Arts was 503, which met the expectation level, while the average scale score for grade 10 Science was 499, which only partially met the expectation level.

The results of the spring 2022 MCAS examinations were mixed, with declines in ELA scores and gains in Math and Science scores since 2021. Overall results indicate a need for improvement as compared to pre-pandemic levels.
