Canton Public Schools District’s student-to-teacher ratio rose by 4.7% in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Canton Public Schools District rose by 4.7% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 3,228 students being taught by 238.9 teachers in Canton Public Schools District, which covers schools within Norfolk County and has a main office in Canton. That's an average of 13.5 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Canton Public Schools District had 3,164 students and 246.2 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.
