Starters Lift Bulldogs Past Colby-Sawyer, 77-59

 The Dean College men's basketball team had all five starters reach double figures in Thursday's 77-59 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Colby-Sawyer inside Pieri Gymnasium.

Dean (11-5, 6-3 GNAC) plays at Albertus Magnus on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday. Colby-Sawyer (7-9, 4-5 GNAC) will host Lasell on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Junior Jakobi Greenleaf (Houston, Texas) led Dean with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. He added eight rebounds, five assists, five steals and four blocks. Junior Jayden Madise (Palmdale, Calif.) added 13 points and nine rebounds. Junior AJ Weston (Kansas City, Mo.) played all 40 minutes and finished with 12 points and six assists. Junior Malik Spearman (St. Paul, Minn.) registered 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Senior Mark Blair (Rosedale, N.Y.) contributed 11 points and eight boards.

Colby-Sawyer received a double-double from senior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas). He finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) added 13 points and eight boards. Senior Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) chipped in 12 points off the bench.

The first 10 minutes of action featured eight lead changes and one tie at 19-19. The Bulldogs then went on an 8-0 run and never looked back. The lead ballooned to 14, 38-24, before a pair of Caraballo free throws ended the half for Colby-Sawyer with Dean in front 38-26 at the break. Weston had 10 points for Dean and Caraballo scored eight for the Chargers.

Dean pushed its lead to 25, 55-30, seven minutes into the second. Colby-Sawyer didn't go quietly as a 20-4 run, capped by a Cummings layup, brought the visitors to within 59-50 with 7:08 on the clock. Dean was able to withstand the rally and retake a double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest en route to the 77-59 victory.

The Bulldogs scored 28 of their 39 points in the paint in the second half. Madise put in 11 of his 13 points in 15 minutes of action in the second. Boone gave Colby-Sawyer a chance with 15 points and six boards before fouling out late in the stanza.
For the game, Dean outrebounded Colby-Sawyer 44-38 and held a 24-9 margin in points off turnovers.

Colby-Sawyer shot 23-of-67 (34.3%) from the floor and 6-of-31 (19.4%) from long range. Dean was 34-of-70 (48.6%) from the floor and 4-of-16 (25%) from beyond the arc.
