The Mayor's Office and Weymouth Public Libraries will present "Welcome to Weymouth!," a community fair for new residents, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 at Tufts Library, 46 Broad Street, Weymouth.
"Welcome to Weymouth!" will be an open house for people who have moved to Weymouth in the last two years and are looking for ways that they can get more involved in their new community. The event will feature nonprofit organizations that serve the Weymouth community and that are looking for new members or volunteers, as well as Town government offices whose staff regularly provide information and direct services to the public.
Attendees may drop in to the event at any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with no advance registration required. To sign up to receive an e-mail reminder beforehand, and for more information about events at the Weymouth Public Libraries, visit the Libraries’ online calendar at weymouth.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/.
"New people are moving to Weymouth every day, bringing their own hopes, ideas, and energy to contribute to our town," said Weymouth Mayor Robert Hedlund. "At 'Welcome to Weymouth!,' they can connect with some of the groups that are already doing great things for our community, and find out how they can join in to support and build on those accomplishments."
"We are excited to pilot this event in support of Weymouth's newest residents," said Library Director Robert MacLean. "During our recent strategic planning process, residents told us that they hoped the library could be a resource for information about things happening all over town, as well as a place where new and long-term residents could connect. 'Welcome to Weymouth!' will be one step in our work toward meeting that need."
Weymouth Public Libraries celebrates and sustains the growth of community, collaboration, and culture through traditions of reading, learning, and sharing. In October 2020, library operations commenced in the newly constructed Tufts Library building, a 50,000 square-foot community hub supporting active, flexible, exciting new programs and services for the Weymouth community.
