The New England Patriots have added linebacker Amari Gainer to their practice squad, the team announced.

Gainer, 25, was first signed by the Las Vegas team as a rookie free agent on May 9, 2024 after playing college football at North Carolina. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 240 pounds, Gainer appeared in 17 games last season, mainly contributing on special teams where he recorded five tackles. He was released by Las Vegas on August 25, 2025.

Before transferring to North Carolina for his final collegiate season in 2023, Gainer spent five years playing at Florida State from 2018 to 2022.
