The New England Patriots have made adjustments to their practice squad roster, re-signing offensive tackle Sebastian Gutierrez and releasing cornerback Miles Battle.
Gutierrez, 27, returns to the Patriots after being released from the practice squad on December 23. He was first signed to the team’s practice squad on September 30. Gutierrez previously spent a short period with New England in 2022. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound player began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos out of Minot State in May 2022. Since then, he has had stints with several teams including the Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and Indianapolis Colts, either during training camp or on various practice squads. He appeared in one game for both the Raiders in 2022 and the 49ers in 2024.
Miles Battle, age 25, is departing from the Patriots’ practice squad. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in May 2024 after playing college football at Utah. After being released by Kansas City following training camp, Battle joined New England’s practice squad on October 15, 2024. He was promoted to the active roster for a game against Buffalo on January 5 where he recorded two tackles and three passes defensed. Battle was also elevated for a game at Tennessee on October 19 and contributed on special teams. Over five games played this season for New England, he accumulated three total tackles before being released from the active roster on December 29 and rejoining the practice squad on January 1.
