Northeastern track and field teams conclude busy weekend at two meets

The Northeastern men’s and women’s track and field teams concluded their busiest weekend of the season on April 18 at the Sean Collier Invitational and the UConn Northeast Challenge.

These events provided opportunities for athletes to compete in a variety of disciplines, highlighting both individual performances and team efforts across multiple venues.

At the Sean Collier Invitational, Cassandra Cinzori and Katie Rodriguez tied for fourth place in the pole vault with a mark of 3.46 meters, while Hannah Shaw finished twelfth with a jump of 3.26 meters. In men’s pole vault, Nathan Epstein and Alexander Yuen tied for second place by clearing 4.47 meters. Notable times in the women’s 800-meter race included Stephanie Kriss (2:10.43), Lucy Abdow (2:13.75), Emily McCann (2:16.00), and Emersyn Deponte (2:17.38). James Ciaccio represented Northeastern in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 2:04.90.

At the UConn Northeast Challenge, Carter Engleman participated in several decathlon events, placing second in five out of ten contests including hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin throw, and the 1500-meter run. In women’s heptathlon competition, Elena Olson recorded marks such as a long jump of 4.75 meters and an 800-meter run completed in 2:36.30; Annalisa Marckmann achieved a long jump distance of 4.43 meters.

Northeastern secured first place finishes in both men’s and women’s four-by-100 meter relays with times of 40.38 seconds for men—run by Michael Stroup, Brunner Williams, Raymond Felton III, Taeshawn Berry—and 48.68 seconds for women—run by Victoria Knight, Ailani Sutherland, Cora Kunze, Anaya Jones.

Other highlights included Iolo Grant taking third place in men’s hurdles at UConn with a time of 14.17 seconds; Victoria Knight ran the women’s hundred meter dash in just over twelve seconds; Felton III led three Huskies who placed third through fifth respectively among men sprinters; Aidan Ray took second as sole competitor in men’s four-hundred meter hurdles at UConn.

The Huskies will next compete at the Penn Relays from April 23 to April 25 at Ott Center for Track and Field before heading to Ken O’Brien Championship Prep at UMass Track & Field Complex on April 25.
