The Northeastern University track and field team announced on April 8 that it will compete in three upcoming meets along the East Coast. The Huskies are set to participate in the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational and Friar Invitational beginning Friday, April 10, with additional competition at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational on Saturday, April 11.

These meets follow strong performances by Northeastern athletes at last weekend’s UConn Dog Fight in Connecticut. Freshman Matthew St. Cyr recorded the second furthest javelin throw in program history with a mark of 66.66 meters. Both men’s and women’s 4×100 relay teams also achieved top ten times, with the women posting a time of 45.74 seconds—fourth fastest outdoors for the school—and the men finishing in 40.04 seconds, ranking sixth all-time.

Other notable performances included sophomore Jaice Dorsey ranking sixth in school history for the women’s 100-meter hurdles (13.96 seconds) and tenth in long jump (5.81 meters), while sophomore Sloan Hinton set the seventh fastest time ever for Northeastern in the women’s 400-meter hurdles (61.01 seconds).

The Huskies’ schedule continues their stretch of competitions up and down the East Coast, including a return to Florida for their final meet there this season at Miami, as well as simultaneous events in Providence and Amherst. At last year’s Friar Invitational, graduate student Stephanie Kriss led three teammates who posted top ten times in school history for the outdoor mile.

Within their conference—the Colonial Athletic Association—the Huskies currently rank first place in three events this season, second place in seven events, and third place eight times overall so far this year. Graduate student Kyle Sarney holds first place conference rankings after running an 8:41.67 steeplechase at March’s Raleigh Relays; freshman Matthew St. Cyr leads CAA javelin rankings with his recent performance; and relay members Stroup, Williams, Felton III, and Berry posted a conference-best time of 40.04 seconds.
