Northeastern track and field team begins Raleigh Relays with top-10 finish

The Northeastern track and field team began its weekend competition at the Raleigh Relays on March 26, highlighted by a top-10 finish from graduate student Kyle Sarney in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

The event marks an important early test for the Huskies as they compete against a broad field of collegiate athletes. The results provide insight into individual performances as well as the team’s overall progress this season.

On Thursday evening, sophomore Jacob Redman competed in the 1500 meters, finishing in 125th place with a time of 3:50.67. Fellow sophomore Jack Mattingly followed in 201st place, recording a time of 3:55.99. In distance events, sophomore Nico Boyle ran the 10,000 meters and secured a time of 30:25.74 to place him at 76th.

Sarney led the way for Northeastern by earning ninth place in his event with a finish of 8:41.67 in the steeplechase.

The Huskies are scheduled to continue their participation at the Raleigh Relays on Friday, beginning at 2:50 p.m. with entries in the men’s 400 meters.
