Northeastern track and field competes at Friar and Miami Hurricane Invitationals

Northeastern University’s track and field team completed the Friar Invitational and the first day of the Miami Hurricane Invitational on April 10, with notable performances from several athletes.

The competitions provided an opportunity for Northeastern athletes to measure their progress in various events as they prepare for upcoming meets. The results highlight both individual achievements and the team’s overall depth.

At the Friar Invitational, junior Keira Gamily finished sixth in the mile open with a time of 5:08.03. Senior Conall Rogers earned tenth place in the 800 meters, finishing in 1:54.28. In a standout performance, junior Ryan Sarney placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:57.76, moving him to fourth on Northeastern’s all-time list for that event.

The men’s team also performed well in the 5000 meters, where graduate student Ryan Slaney took third place (14:19.97), sophomore Nico Boyle finished fourth (14:26.16), and freshman Jack Seagroatt secured sixth (14:30.67).

Meanwhile at the Miami Hurricane Invitational, sophomore Jaice Dorsey was Northeastern’s sole competitor on Friday, placing eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.72 meters.

The Huskies are scheduled to continue competing tomorrow at both the second day of the Miami Hurricane Invitational and at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational.
