New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye addressed the media on February 10, 2026, reflecting on his first Super Bowl appearance and the team’s season. Maye described the experience as a significant learning opportunity, stating, “100%. I think you can use it as a learning experience and an experience that I have a chance to remember for the rest of my career, the rest of my life. It’s a chance to battle back from something that didn’t go your way or you wish would have gone differently and give you fuel to remember that.”

Maye acknowledged the disappointment of coming up short in the championship game but emphasized that both he and his teammates gave their best effort. He said, “We came up short and we didn’t execute or play how we wanted to, but there’s a lot of things that this team did well, and we can use it down the road when we get back in OTAs or get back in training camp.”

Addressing questions about his health following the season, Maye confirmed he does not require surgery: “Yeah, just get some time off. Time’s the best healer, and definitely just need time off. Nothing that needs anything to be done. Just some time away, time to get some rest and just time away from football.”

Maye also spoke about building a strong foundation with his teammates under head coach Mike Vrabel. He referenced Vrabel’s message to the squad about revitalizing energy among fans: “Just what we’ve done with the foundation that we’ve set for this city, for this fan base. Got them back, got some energy back in the city… we’re at the biggest game on the highest level.”

When asked about reviewing game film from their Super Bowl loss, Maye responded candidly: “Yeah, I think we just lost. I think they made more plays than we did, and they were the better team on Sunday. They deserved to win.”

Reflecting on his rookie year as starting quarterback in a new offensive system led by coordinator Ashton Grant and working closely with Josh McDaniels, Maye expressed optimism for continued growth: “There’s so much more we can take with this offense… With my capability to play the position… learn it from Coach [McDaniels]… is only going to help us down the road.” He added hopefulness about remaining in a consistent offensive scheme next season.

Maye highlighted his relationship with rookie teammate Will Campbell as another positive aspect of his first year: “I love Will, and I look forward to playing with him for a long time.” He also praised wide receiver Stefon Diggs for his contributions throughout the season.

Looking ahead to offseason plans—now married—Maye said spending time with family will be central before returning focus to football preparations.

He concluded by expressing gratitude toward fans while acknowledging areas where improvement is needed: “I appreciate the fans. I appreciate the fans, the support. I know I didn’t play as well as I would have liked down the stretch… I’m going to promise to do my best to work hard and get us back to those moments in those games.”
